Progressive cuts ties with insurance agency over racist

Progressive confirmed to Coverage Business that it will be terminating the romance with the insurance coverage agency.

A Progressive spokesperson reported: “We’re knowledgeable and appalled by the signal a short while ago posted at the Harry E Reed Company and are terminating our partnership with the agency. At Progressive, Range, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) are essential to our Core Values.

“We’re dedicated to building an environment wherever our people today feel welcomed, valued and respected and count on that anyone representing Progressive to take aspect in this determination.  The signal is in immediate violation of that dedication and does not align with our company’s main values and code of conduct.”

An impression of the racist signal, shared on Monday, prompted outrage on social media.

Allura Stillwagon, who shared the signal with her on the net next, explained to NPR: “I had to read it extra than the moment mainly because I thought it was something [my mom] saw on Fb. But when she said it was a small business [in town], I was straight away disgusted.”

“People have this strategy that Maine isn’t really quite racist and that it can be quite liberal. But up north, it truly is not like that at all,” Stillwagon explained.

Harry E Reed did not reply to a request for comment, NPR documented.

In a statement on Tuesday, Steve Golieb, chair of Millinocket Town Council, condemned the indication as a “blatant disregard of human decency”.

“It is deeply saddening, disgraceful and unacceptable for any particular person to try to make gentle of Juneteenth and what it represents for tens of millions of slaves and their living descendants,” Golieb said.

Millinocket is a “beautiful area to stay,” Golieb said, and the city “does not acknowledge or endorse something short of inclusivity”.

Juneteenth is a federal US holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Us citizens, celebrated on June 19.
